I started a new blog at http://widster.com and I was wondering when I should start building links... approximately how many posts should I have before I start trying to get traffic.
after doing some onsite optimizations.. work on it every day after you've completed your article submissions..
It depends on your link building strategy. But you should start dir submissions as soon as site is live.
Begin as early as possible. For each of my new websites I start the day that my finalised design and content has been uploaded.
i would wait until your site is decent. i dont link with unfinished sites. so i'd wait til you have lets say about 10+ posts.
I also generally wait a bit if it is a blog, I don't start too much link building until I've got the first 4-6 posts up. That is just personal preference... but start soon!
It is never to soon to start building links. Read this: http://mixedmarketarts.com/2007/11/13/the-link-building-cookbook/ Start by using the RSS feed directory list post.
One question that just popped up while reading this thread, how do we increase PR through backlinks? Will the backlinks that are from PR0 sites be valuable in PR development?
Start now. Submit to web directories, search engines Once you get around 20 to 25 posts, you can continue with link building at forums etc, to drive traffic to your site. You will need some quality content to make them come back to your site. But you can start submission to directories as soon as your site is alive.
