remember in the mid 2000's when sites like delicious and stumbleupon were new, those were awesome days for SEO, they used to bring so much traffic, actually more than Google did! I miss those days...
Well, if you have read the SEO Bible of Wiley a couple of years ago, it has been said that changes is the only constant thing in SEO. So, it isn't surprising. And also, SEO is a never ending process so expect more of changes in the future
Yeah, SEO used to be a lot easier. Throw up a decent article on Associated Content or another article site and you were ranking on Page 1 of the search results in a couple of days.
Buy links. SEO easy mode. Forget trying to hunt them down, "reach out", blog commenting, building a PBN, and all that other crap. Go to hpbacklinks.com , backlinks.com , and PBN groups on Facebook, and buy links.
but in the start stumbleupon used to send fake traffic bcoz only one submission and 15 to 20 views without any followers
SEO is actually easy to learn, though what makes it hard is when you can't get the right data why this and that happened. It'll make you crazy sometimes; it is a kinda broad too. But the fun part of it is the satisfaction and the feeling of accomplishment you you're able to figure out something on your own (especially in Analytics).
In my view stumble upon is not a good site for marketing and it never be. If people will not stay on your site and browse more pages its useless.
not for me as well....now they don't even allow free domain such as blogspot.com reddit and twitter are better even i prefer google plus then stumbleyupon
It depends what you seek in life. If you are looking to be number one without any competition, then, 2000s were probably very good for you. However, nowadays SEO is widely recognized and vibrant profession. It is no longer something that is exclusive for North American continent. People all over the world are trying to improve their companies. As a result, our global society is becoming closer. We are meeting new people and cooperating with them on various tasks. For me, this is a cool thing. I never know what tomorrow will bring. In fact, I have to fight for every visitor because people are used to traditional marketing and SEO techniques. Instead, you need to show real interest for them and to give them your free time wchich is really valuable. You can no longer use premade email templates. Instead, you need fine personalization of every message that you send.
yeah that also a big problem, they have very less user based plus they are acting like facebook, focus more on advertisement and less on user
not surprised, they started a platform like any other, so they let users run wild, then they figured it was time to make money. I am sorry their platform does not meet your needs, it was always about them... users were always just a guest, now that you have made them popular, then they wise up like google has, and those easy seo days are gone....
The op said when seo was "fun..." He did not imply that it was hard, however, in order to get past the gate keeper long term, then you need better content, and authority backlinks.... other then that, as long as you keep posting decent content, get some decent backlinks every now and then, then google will slowly open up the gate for you....
I even didn't get why user are going there neither it is like reddit where you can discuss nor it is like sigg where you bookmark , it's just a simple frame based site which embed you site under them
Content and backlinks and that too a whole lot of them.. thats SEO today... i guess seo used to be more fun
Before starting with SEO; when just heard about it- it was really hard for me to understand. Once I started with my blog, things became easier gradually and now I really enjoy doing it. But it's true, outcomes are not always as per expectations!
