When selling domains, long auction or short?

Which do you think is best when selling domains. A short auction (say 24 hours) to get people to act quickly, or a long auction (1 week) to allow time for more people to see the auction and run up the bids?

If your auction on forums. 48-72 hours sounds the best.

There is no such thing as best IMO. Depends on the timeframe & how much you want to get rid of the name & what price you are expecting. You could also try making an auction end 48 hours after the last bid so if there is another bid then the auction is extended for another 48 hrs, etc.

I've had most success with 3 days (72 hours). If it's 24 hours you won't have enough time to get everyone's attention and also depending on how much you're selling it for, you're not giving the buyer enough time to think about it. If it's too long the first potential buyers forget about the auction.

    Just my $0.02

72 hours sounded good to me also. 2 days ago I listed my first domain for sale listing and I just picked 72 hours because it sounded good. I got a couple bids the first few hours and I have had nothing since. I am afraid the current bidders might lose interest so I am tempted to cut the auction short.

Let the auction run until the end, there are always last minute bidders that are just waiting to see how much the auction will be at near closing time. Is this an eBay auction or an auction on a forum?

It depends, it's not the same for ebay and forums
I use short ebay waiting times and longer for forums
