    Hi there,

I want to know that when a new website gets PR 1,2,3... for the first time if it has enough back links and regular updates.

    Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards

A site can achieve PR within about 3 months of coming into existence. It won't automatically gain PR - like you said, it will only achieve PR if it has some decent backlinks at the time that Google do their PR calculations. This 'snapshot' of backlinks is actually a couple of weeks before the obvious signs of a PR export.

Edited: I know PR purists will argue that PR is constantly being tweaked internally at G - it is, but the snapshot in time concept is a useful way of thinking about it.

A website gains PR as soon as google spiders new backlinks that carry PR towards the site, SEPRS are adjusted if applicable and it's a fluid constant process that as CountryBoy said only gets updated on the toolbar snapshot every few months.

Timing is everything. I started a site at the end of May 2005 and three weeks later, when Google released its next ranking, it hit PR6. Since then it has slipped back to PR4, but it certainly didn't take long.

I, too, am waiting on PR for a new site. It has been "predicated" to score a 5, but we shall see.
