    Hi,
I am new in link exchange. So many people have advised me that a single mistake during link exchange can ban my website.
I want to know about those mistakes.
    Please tell me.

Just don't link farm(Like 5,000 Back Links a day from crappy link farm sites) or spam forums. If you don't do that you should be fine.

Link to sites that are like yours. Don't buy or sell links. Let it be a natural process.

If you exceed the limit and the links are not relative to your site,then..you'll be in trouble.
Always do link exchanges with sites relative to your site niche.

I would say don't panic, because I don't think it's true that one simple mistake will get you banned. What will get you banned is a pattern of mistakes that is recognized by search engines. This could be things like building thousands of links in a short amount of time, buying links that are obvious, linking from viagra and gambling sites, comment spamming, and things like that. If you build your links in a normal, useful fashion you have nothing to worry about.

Just spend time selecting sites that are similar to yours and have content that people using your site might benefit from. I always try to ensure that the site has been indexed, especially the page you will be on and that at least the home page has PR.
