When not to use long tail keywords?

I was making a site, and I came up with some nice long tails. If I want to keep returning visitors should I not use long tails, because their hard to remember? or look strange?

I would think you would want to use them on a blog to get good position on google but for like a returning reward site, I want to keep them short and easy?

Its not a case of either/or you should be doing both. At first it can be difficult ranking for higher search volume keywords so target the low hanging fruit in the meantime.

Long tails always have less Search volume .. Why ?

Because they are hard to remember, so don't worry about that part , build quality content around that long tail keywords and you will have a ranking which sticks for quite long without doing anything,

One of my sites get 100UV per day for few long tail , and this SERP and Traffic is constant for last 2 years without doing any SEO....
Simply because I have the content which satisfy the need of that search term

Longtail being hard to remember is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is searchers are searching for longtail keyword phrases, and when you target multiple longtail keywords, it all adds up, and for large content sites ends up being more then what the main keywords will bring to your site.

Who said longtail keywords are hard to remember... If user is very particular about his query he would go for long tail only, he doesn't have to remember them.
Moreover, Long tail keywords are narrow, less competitive and its easy to optimize a web page accordingly.

According to me, long tail keywords can get rank easily as compared to short term keyword. It does not matter that it is hard to remember but when somebody searching for this keyword, he should be land on user friendly website and get relevant details regarding his search query. Keywords should be relevant to web page it does not matter long or short.

As long as the long tail keyword has lots of searches, then theres no reason why you shouldnt use them.

It does not matter how long your keywords are or if they are easy to remember. Focus on terms relevant to your content. Long tails are well worth paying attention to as although you will not get as much traffic as by using more general word, you will definitely see improvement in the bounce rate of your site. It is better to have less potentially interested visitors than more not so interested ones.
