Are there any statistics that I should look at to see the quality of the servers they have? Sort of like when you go shopping for computers, you look at RAM, processor, space, etc. I know the two main stats are bandwidth and storage space allowed, but this doesn't necessarily determine speed right? My main concern is that I'm going to get a huge amount of traffic from digg one day, or from all the advertising I plan on doing for my website launch, and then the server will crash and burn on me. Right now I'm with ipower. Their servers seem to be good but the past 6 months they have hour wait times to get through to customer support. If my website does ever go down, I'm screwed with them. I'm now looking at possibly changing to blue host. Ipower however just got done upgrading all their servers..supposedly they are real high tech now. So I'm worried that I'll be transferring from a really fast server to just an average server on blue host. Any thoughts?
The one thing that comes to mind and that's always guided me in the right direction for hosting, is to do a search over at webhostingtalk.com for the company that you're thinking of moving to and view all the threads (positive and negative) that come up during the search.
