When is the next Google Update?

Since the last Google update on January 2007, anyone knows when would Google be updating its index again?

 

April or somewhere around there.

 

I noticed a few of my pages that didn't have a PR get one recently but the major one will be april or so, every 4th month.

The original question asked when Google would update its index next. If phrased correctly this is very different than when will Google update visible PageRank.

Visible PageRank is exported every three to four months, so we can expect the next update to occur in April or thereabouts.

As for the index or search rankings themselves, in December Google switched to near daily refreshes, also coined EverFresh. For all practical purposes this means that the index is updated constantly with the most current information gathered by spider crawls.

Another upshot to EverFresh is that algorithm updates, both minor and major, can now occur on any given day. Google does minor updates quite frequently and usually nobody notices (except the people who come here and to WMW screaming bloody murder). Because the dataset of web content is a moving target, constantly changing, Google will 'tweak the dials' based to better adjust to their statistical indicators of quality, both good and bad. Less frequent will be algorithm changes where they reprogram portions of the algorithm. Even less frequent are new infrastructure installations such as last year's Big Daddy. I guess you could say that Big Daddy was akin to going from XP to Vista and it involved both software and hardware changes.

By the way, Google no longer does Index Updates. Old timers will remember going to McDar to watch the Google Dance (You loved it, you hated it, you screamed for joy and you screamed in pain). Today the index is updated incrementally as new crawl data arrives and is processed (Do you know what a shard is?).

So we have data refreshes (near daily), algorithm updates (can happen any time) and infrastructure changes (probably every two or three years).

 

I think it would be on April.

The Google Update usually happens every 90-100 days, so the next one should be around mid April.

 

i hope next update will be start on january.

Must say the current system is better because the old one almost felt like a lottery.

 

Generally google is updating PR on toolbar after every 3-4 months. so last update was on Jan so we can expect next update in March / April.

I think the next big PR update is in early may.. Hopefully will be earlier. I cant wait for it..

 

google updates page rank 3 times in a year . that means google usually updates page rank every 3 months .
