When is the hadron collider going to be turned on?

    I was wondering when they are going to turn on the hadron collider. I heard it was going to be turned on last saterday, but then heard it was delayed because of the olympics. So what day are they turning it on?

    It's the end of the world, a microscopic blackhole might be created from it. Why do they build those kind of things if there is no benefit from it?
