Hi Everyone, I am thinking about submitting a press release, and was wondering if Tuesday (May 26, 2009) the day after the US holiday Memorial Day would be a good day to submit it? Or would that be a bad idea since it will be similar to a busy Monday work day (which I hear is a bad time to submit a press release). How about Wednesday - 2 days after Memorial Day? Thanks in advance, Ed
Where is the release going to appear at? Are you targeting news papers, radio stations,,,,,, something else? Personally, I would try to get it into the sunday paper. Mainly because that is the paper that most people buy.
The press release will be submitted electronically using Prweb's highest submission level, and from there is gets distributed electronically to news sites (hopfully like Google news, Yahoo news etc.) as well as the Associated Press etc., etc., etc. So it needs to be a time when journalists can see it.
Since this is going to be an electronic press release, I suggest you stay away from holidays and holidays that fall on a weekends. The reason is that people are doing other things besides getting on the internet. During a holiday, traffic on all of my sites takes a nose dive. During summer holidays people are going to the lakes or beaches, going fishing, swimming and just spending time with the family. If their not going to the lakes, they are going to friends and family members houses. Your less likely to get exposure if you release an electronic press release when fewer then normal people are on the internet.
My clients over the years have seemed to have the most luck on Tuesday mornings using PRWeb (Wednesdays being the second best day for pickups). Since they started allowing the user to choose their own distribution time, we've had good luck with the 7-8am window (eastern time).
Any working day can be effective, dont publish on the day when there is any breaking news already overloading to the media, otherwise it will be lossed.
