Hi, I've got a set of sites that all deal with a particular related topic. I'm looking to link them together to connect related information but am concerned that interlinking them all might look like suspicious to google. So my question really is when does something start to look like a link farm? Is it at 10 sites interlinked, 100? 1000? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
If you've got a handful of sites that are all related and you want to interlink them, there should be no problem... even if they are all hosted on the same IP and/or registered to the same registrant. I would try to limit to 5... maybe 10 at the absolute most but even 10 may draw scutany. And make SURE the links are relevent... preferably contextual links from a page on site A to a relevant page on site B (not just home page to home page) instead of blogroll or site-wide footer links. But if you've got 20, 30, 50, 100, 1000, 2000 sites and you're interlinking them... regardless of whether they are related or not, I would highly suggest that you limit interlinking to related sites only, that they're all registered to different registrants w/ no common names, addresses, emails, phones and that they're hosted on different IPs... After you get past a handful of sites it is impossible for a single person to be generating unique content on a regular basis.
I have 33,000+ backlinks pointing to my blog and still getting decent traffic from google. It is not a matter of how many backlinks you create, it is the average rate matters. Any sudden increase in backlinks might trigger the net. So, I suggest do it at moderate level to stay safe.
This makes no sense. If I submit your website to 14 million directories, and google happens to crawl them all overnight (this is a hypothetical, relax), you will not be penalized. Further, your post is not even pertinent to the question at hand... I've interlinked frequently before, even from unrelated sites (linked about 4 or 5 together) without any visible penalty. If they're related, I see no reason why Google would frown upon it. However, you will not reap the benefits that you would if they were all on separate IPs (see 'seo hosting').
He is correct google won't penalize you for an increase in links. Because your not in charge of who links to you. If that was the case I would just spam links to my competitors. Second if you do interlink your sites together you won't get banned or remove from google. Your the owner of the website why can't you but your link in your site to drive to other visitors. The only thing that happens is you won't see any great pr juice from doing this because their all from the same ip.
Thank you guys and girls! Thats given me a lot of food for thought, so the general agreement seems to be that it won't cause me any problems.
Days ago I have seen a site which have a certain post that goes like, putting on each and every keywords it have but everything is linked to only one page. That's already link farming because he just post his keywords and use the same landing page with every links.
Find about Link farm at wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link_farm I think, this gives u good idea.
Link framing is just like putting 100 of links at particular webpage and this page is properly connect in website navigation. These links will not be related to theme of your website.
