When I search google for link:mydomain it shows no results at all. But when I search Yahoo I get over 220 incoming links.

    What is this about?

Most websites show far less backlinks in google compared to yahoo. It is common to see less than 100 with google and 1000's with yahoo.

That's the way it goes and Yahoo is better from this point of view.

    Hi,

You need to generate links which is having page rank for links page. I mean the page should contain some Page Rank where you are going get the link. In that case you can get some back links in google. If you want back links in google, i can do it. Pls contact me at - texasddc at gmail dot com

Yea thanks srinivas, I think I just figured out a good way to do that.

There is neat tool if you google "check internal page rank" that will show you the page ranks of all of the sub-directories of a site (NOT recommend for giant sites)

I have been using this to find the threads on forums I am posting on that have a hight PR, or any PR at all for that matter, so that I can spend my time wisely while backlinking

that site I just mentioned btw, only lets you use it once per hour. I saw someone mention this earlier but I didn't know it was the same site. But I suppose you could reset your router or something to trick it. Sounds like a pain in the butt though.

Very good question... I search on Google I get 0 backlinks.... however google webmaster tools finds over 50 (but many are no-follow)..... and Yahoo counts around 70 (although many maybe 20 are yahoo directory no follow links)

Yea, I dino I get the same thing, I find zero when just searching google, but a bunch when I look at google webmaster. That is perhaps even harder to understand than the yahoo/google difference. Anybody have an explanation?

GOOGLE stop showing this type of results because other companies copy back links and check the advertise of high ranking sites ( what kind of advertising or keyword use for ranking or worth in top ten google).
YAHOO shoinw back links but many high ranking back links hide *do you noticed?*

BTW i read an article on net 6 month ago. May be this article wrong or me too :)

You need to use Yahoo BackLink Checker not Google. Google no longer shows who is linking to you.

think about how many people end up using and abusing the yahoo site explorer to find competitors backlinks, its probably eating away at their bandwidth

google obviously doesnt want people looking up backlinks all day on their search engine so they show you very few when you try to link:domain
