Have been running several free directories, which is recieving 50-70 submission perday. and its arround less then a month old. i wonder if i could turn it to paid directories. 1. When is a good time to do this? 2. What is the parameters, turning free directories to paid? 3. Will i Be loosing traffic? 4. is it a good decision to turn to paid ones? or just keep it free? waiting for directory-master experience.
When you achieve good pr on update but make sure you dont remove old links as it's not ethical to remove old free links imo.You will of course loose traffic which has no value for your directory..I think it's good decision only if your directory has gained high pr. Thanks, Saad
Yes it is a good choice but like has been posted in this thread, follow the points posted, you need to make sure that your Directory will meet the expectations that is expected of Paid Directories
Introduced a paid "featured" option to begin with, and see how it goes. No matter when you decide to turn paid, you will end up losing some traffic. For one thing, you will lose your place in a number of free directory lists. But if your directory is paid you should be thinking about budgeting a certain percentage of your earnings for promotion, so you can get back some of that traffic.
There is no timeline some directories can be paid from day one, because for a number of reasons they will meet the criteria 3month, 6 month, or 1 year? You will reach a timeline marker dependent on the Directories development, but it all revolves around establishing the directory and that means focused 365/24/7 input and support
Seems you still 13, this has to be the worst suggestion you have ever given. I have had 1 free directory which I turned into paid, and getting around 3-5 submissions a day, I changed it to paid 2 weeks after PR updated, and had decent alexa 230,000 and decent uniques a day.
Hi Sasa, just wondering why you haven't responded to my thread? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=289676 Nothing to say? Grab a Snickers. Word of advice: before trying to make someone look stupid, please get your facts straight first. Cheers
Time is not the problem, when your directory are so strong that all people want to get listed, it is the time
Turn the directory into paid slowly -- first offer paid featured links Then offer paid regular links with extra features like deep links Then go for paid regular links And finally go for paid reciprocal links Once you gain good PR - say PR4/5 - time to turn it paid.
what the most people expect for the ROI on a paid directory are PR and possible higher rank in G SERPs. Not many would expect traffic. So, it's always good if your paid directory has PR4 or higher. This thread may be a help.
nope 13 is my lucky number BTW alexa mean crap unless you in top 40,000. I'm just saying unless you've spent a ton of money trying to get good PR you should just start out as Paid... Thats how my next directory is gonna be... How well you rank in SE's and for Directory owners its your money maker or hater! Your Best or Worst Friend. Heaven or Hell you decide
