When does google update the pageranks? I am expecting my site to get a pagerank, I submitted it to a bunch of directories( about a hundred ). that oughtta do it .
Google's spider doesn't scan the web for specific reasons periodically, i.e to analyze page ranks and update them. Google's spider does scan the web more than one time per day automatically collecting data on every website on the Internet, and then Google's computer compares the data it records during each sweep of the Internet with the data it has already recorded in its data base. So if Google's computer analyzes some "improvement" in a particular website that corresponds with its current algorithms pertaining to PR and the algorithms require a page rank adjustment, Google's computer will change that website's PR either upwards or downwards. However, new page ranks will not necessarily appear immediately and that process often takes 3-4 months to complete.

Yes but you need to do more then 100 as well as deversify, articles,press releases, bookmarks, ect ect... read threw this section and you will figure out what im saying laterz malcolm
PR is updated quarterly I agree though that you should be less hung up on getting a PR and try to drive targetted traffic to your site. Directory submissions are all very well but I would take one targetted link for my site on a similar website over 100 directory submissions. It's all about traffic
