When does Google Crawl or Consider Redirects ?

    Hello.

I 301 redirected default permalinks of of my old blog to a Custom structure. All the new Links have been indexed by Google but previous one's haven't been removed. Now it ends up as Duplicate content .

I got like 600 Duplicate Meta description and 300 Duplicate Title tags.

The Title tags duplication was basically due these permalinks and Google hasn't yet updated anything regarding this.

The duplicate Meta Description tags was basically because I had do follow on my tags which I just did to nofollow through All in one SEO.

People have been saying me to wait and wait which I am. But it never takes this much long. 2 Weeks and new pages crawled and previous pages never removed. Or is that kind of crawling websites a different thing ?

My Search results have been going down due to these things and traffic going down too . Please help. Every other thing is working when it comes down to Lower Traffic rank, getting bad results, getting new pages indexed. All these are working for the Google crawling and not fixing these old things ?

I would recommend to make some dofollow social bookmarkings. As soon the Google spider will pick the link, it'll crawl your website again. and as you already have using a 301 redirect, you have done your bit, its now upto google.
Also, consider removing the indexed pages from google webmaster central.

Yes I think I have to manually do that now.

For the duplicate stuff, I have a better idea.

If I submit removal requests one by one for each link from /?p=1 to /?p=2000, it would take me years to do that.

So I have a trick, how about going to Google Parameters in Webmaster tools and Setting the ignore option to ?p=id parameters . This will let Google automatically ignore this syntax. For those who don't know what Parameters are, so here is a Screenshot. Now I want to know if using these Parameters would be safe ?

No matter what Google will take time. May be years to be honest.

If you do it through webmaster tools, it shouldn't take long

    Ok.

Is the mixupdate.com/tag/anything is safe or should have a do follow because it's being considered as Duplicate by Google. However, I think ignoring /?p=id from Google parameters would be better because they're redirected properly and I won't be needing them anyway.

So I think doing the removal redirected links manually through Google Tools > Parameters would be a good option.

One more thing I expect asking is,

    /?tag=chandra-levy-intern-murder-case
    /tag/chandra-levy-intern-murder-case/

These are also being considered as duplicate. So I think it's actually the old tag redirected to the new one. I can remove it too but removing the parameter "tag" would remove the /tag too ? Or is it fine ?

Also the /tag should have a nofollow or do follow through ALL IN ONE SEO? What's better for traffic ?

    I've done it through parameters.

Its been 24 hours and links haven't been removed. How long does it take ?
