When does Google cache?

Is the "cached" page in Google results the last time the page was crawled, or the next-to-last time?

I think cached is when Google last crawled the page.

The cached view of your page is not necessarily the last time google crawled it as sometimes the dates appear out of sequence.

Quite often I look at a page's cache, and it will say it was taken at one time. A few days later I'll check the cache and this will be a date before the last one.

Guys, I have no explanation what's happening with my site. Gbot comes to my site almost every day but when I cash any of the inner pages I see a copy of the page from Jan 2005 (more than a year ago). I want to know if something like that is happening to any of you.
    The site is www.apply4creditcardonline.com
Any idea what might be the reason for that?

sometimes you will see something you just added in the snippet of the SERP and when you view the cached page it is an older one

My site took two weeks after I submitted the address to Google to appear on Google Search. After that I noticed that the site is cached once every 10 days or so.

    Hope that helps

Depends alot on your link popularity and if you have any authority sites pointing to you.

If you do then, (say a few PR 8 sites) then you will be spidered and cached very quickly.

    What Brad said:

Plus there are approx 30 data centers, which have different results, it all dependis on the DC are you are looking at.

You can have a g-bot on your site right now, but at this very moment, your page rank, cached pages, and back links vary depending on the dc (data center) displaying your results. Mcdars might help you get a better over all impression
