When does an expired domain become available??

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by theTurk, Jun 14, 2007.

Hey guys I'm watching a domain for a while and at Whois.Net the expiration date is 9 May 2007 but I still can not register it. When will it become available to register? Is there a general time period like 1-2 months for every domain??

    Thanks in advance

Tl the best of my knowledge the name becomes available 60 days after expiry date.

Maybe someone else can give you an exact answer.

After a domain name expires, it has to go through a Deletion Process before it can be released. Immediately after the domain name expires, it enters a Grace Period, during which the current registrant can still renew. This Grace Period is unregulated, but usually lasts from 30 to 45 days. Once that period is over, the Registrar will release the name to the Registry. The name then enters a 30-day Redemption Grace period. When that is over, the name goes into Pending Delete status while the registry processes the deletion and approximately 6 days later the domain name will become available.

I think it is 15 days for the registrant to renew and then 60 days to redeem from the registrar.

Thanks andreas21 it says pending delete so it will go down in 6 days. That means I will try my best for 6 days to get the domain...
