When does aging begin?

What are opinions on when site's age begins?

Like say a site is like 5 years old but has been just pointing or redirecting to another domain for most of its life

Then you take it and turn the redirect off, add your content and links, will the site have an advantage because it is 5 years old?

or will its life start when the redirect is turned off?

well, thats interesting point..lets see..google can see all things assosiated with the site it can compair content to its previous content and how it have been changing, so if your site had some kind of more like unique content and you just never did seo..maybe it will have advantage..at least some kind of..

Excellent question! I too wonder when does it start? To add further to this question, does the aging take into account
    1. the date domain was registered !
    2. the date when domain hosting started!
    3. SE found the site?

imo, aging begins the moment a se first finds your site

I think the aging is a combination of couple of things.

aging = (date since your domain is registered) * factor1 + (date since SE found link to your site) * 1.0

where factor1 is some fudge factor which we don't know :)

Also, this equation is based on my experience ;)

    nah.
It's the links that need to age not the site.
Suppose you had adwords template and it was for "garden gnomes"
As long as it has had one or two links for a year ish plus that say garden gnomes it won't sandbox.
As long as the link context is good, and that the sites linking in are related to garden somthing or gnome something and are on adifferent c class, it will not sandbox
