Newbie trying to understand. Exactly what determines when 3rd party hosted content or page elements begin to affect SEO? Ive read that using a service like Amazon S3 to host videos, images, Javascript and CSS will not negatively impact SEO/page rank. If that is so, what technically is determining when you will be affected? Is it simply that as long as your html is on your site, you get the same seo benefit as if everything were there? Despite searching for hours, I've not seen any discussion of exactly what triggers google or others to give you a hit on your SEO/pr. FYI I am building a real estate website that accesses "For Sale" text description and images from a provider's database/server. They say that in order to get any of the SEO benefit, I have to set up a subdomain on their server and locate the search and results webpages there. Don't understand why I can't have the search set up on my main site, seems real similar to Amazon S3 which doesn't require a subdomain on their site (does it?). So, all of this is confusing me in understanding about what exactly determines if I do or don't get the SEO benefit, what MUST be on my site, etc. thanks in advance for any help in understanding this
