I don't understand the concept of doing that. More users=more traffic=bigger profit.

The only time I've ever seen a forum stop accepting new users is when spam becomes too much of a problem. But once they do that, the forums almost always slowly die.

Well, I think those sorta stuff only happen in really 'eleet/underground' forums, which are more considered as a rendezvous point for a 'certain group' of people, rather than a public community like DP. :)

I doubt they will. More people = more threads/posts = more pages for ads = more likely ads will be clicked = more money.

But, from other point of view, servers also have some limits :D
Suposse here would come 100 000 000 new members by end of this year. That would cost a hell of new severs :D

New users should be always welcome, I think

I don't even understand what you are talking about... :)
It's not a good idea to compare DP with other forum which is not even in English language. Gimme a break! You comparing DP with local forums and wonder when DP will follow their steps??

    That's a horrible idea!

Without new blood a forum dies, old members stop posting all the time, you need a constant influx of people.

It would be a smarter idea to require payment to use the forums if your trying to improve the quality of posters.

I think that is not going to happen for the time being,
But who knows, they will, sometime in future or may even start Yearly memberships fee.
