What is a good number to pause a keyword that is getting alot impressions and very little clicks.? Like 100 impressions and 2 clicks? What is your impressions max before you will pause that keyword.
pausing a campaign is not based on impressions. It is based on ROI. If you are losing money on the keyword, then pause it... that is the only time to say for sure, and even then it is hard to make that determination unless you have access to keyword assist data. You might have a keyword that brings in a lot of clicks and impressions, however since google counts the conversion on the last keyword searched for you might end up pausing a keyword that causes the search of another more profitable keyword. Example, let say you bid on dog. It has lots of impressions and clicks. and you also bid on dog leash, which has a high conversion rate but low impression and clicks. If you pause dog, you may end up getting less volume and conversions on dog leash because you are no longer in the research phase of a buyer.
google will disable your keyword if it gets less than .5% CTR. if you have a good keyword thats getting low CTR like that, then you should pause the keyword till you fix the ad copy to increase the CTR or you delete the keyword from its existing ad group and create a new one with its own ad copy.
Google will only pause a low CTR if the low CTR is not common for the position. Now that Google has implemented position normalization, a low ctr in position 8 of 0.25% is not bad as long as position 8's CTR is about that for other advertisers as well. I have many, successful keywords with a 0.1% CTR that has not been turned off and with a QS of great.
If a keyword gets to many impressions, but not enough clicks, then make a separate adgroup for that keyword and write a killer ad for it.
