DMOZ died a long time ago :)
I have submitted 2-3 sites there (all with good quality) several years ago and they are still waiting.

The approval time varies according to different directories, usually takes at least 3 months for approval. But one of my friends submitted a non-profit niche site to DMOZ and got listed 2 months later. what's a surprising. If you are running a small and commercial site , it is really really hard to gain a listing in DMOZ, just give it up.:(

I used to be a DMOZ editor a few years back. I got kicked out because I stopped editing my directory for a few months.. :(

that's the problem with DMOZ, the editors get busy with other things in their lives or your particular directory doesn't even have an editor.

My advise for someone wanting to get into DMOZ is to apply to be an editor in the directory your interested in. The trick when applying is to submit 5 or 6 new sites that SHOULD be included in the DMOZ directory but is not.. if you do enough research and find several Excellent sites that match the direcotories theme then that should get the attention of a higher up editor that may invite you to be an editor.

    good luck!

Is it they will invite editor? I taught all editor must make application personally? They kicked those inactive editor, so that they reduce the resource to monitor all editor.

Guidelines have nothing to do with it. The ODP is no longer being actively updated or maintained.
