When did you register your first domain?

I registered my first domain in Australia in 99 (which still lives albeit in permanent redirect mode). My main site was registered in 98 and given to me by a very generous benefactor!

 

Give us the, rest, of the story. How hard was it to get a domain compaired to now. *Think paperwork.*

 

paperwork? this is the net after all!! Just a simple ascii form to fill out and email.

I still have some portable, routable pre arin ip space also.

 

It was different.. if my memory serves me they are $100 or $120 i think? and you'd reg it.. it was yours and they'd hold it in your name for 4-8 weeks i think? and you'd get a network solutions envelope and you had to send in a check and pay for it then with a tear off... i used to get like 10 of them a week lol Was a good way to tie up the name while u thought it over too... ahh the good old days wish i had ALOT more foresight

That was later... there were domains before there was net sol

 

98 registered 3 domains and was so proud of the fact... even though it was for a client... and me a webmaster.
