When did Google start letting the visitor choose their own adsense ads ?

    Anyone else noticed this ?

Your normal adsense ads display & then at the side a submenu saying 'Change Ads To About' & a link menu to change the ads in your main adsense block to more targetted ads for the visitor.

He is talking about the adlinks.

When adlinks dont have any ads to display it shows a input box where a user can put a keyword so the ads are displayed. This is nothing new.

    Nah im not.....

eg. (i was just going to post a link but theyve gone now) Wonder if google was testing something ?

ie. Horizontal Banner of ads, then right hand side a link menu saying ' Display ads about - Then listing other catogories of relevant ads, which when you click it changes the ads into the horzizontal banner.

Hard to explain, i'l see if I catch it again.........

Thats the same thing. The adlinks suggestion box is displayed when there is lack of ads. Nothing new.

INV - sorry but your wrong.

I noticed it on Adlinks a few months ago but now it happens occasionally on Ads as well. I first saw it on Ads this past weekend but because it is intermittent I don't actually know how long they have been doing this.

Its not possible to provide a link to show you as the chances are the time you click they will not be there.

I think we should take comfort from the fact that when Google does these things it is usually done with the intention of improving things. I would GUESS they are just trying it out for now.

It would be already released as a new feature in testing by people that follow adsense developments seriously. You can always provide a screenshot. Untill then I am sticking to my idea of the good old suggestion box for adlinks. :)

I have seen that but I think it was on a verticle banner on my site. There was the normal ads but a drop down list to choose different ads. I only remember seing it once. it was NOT a search box in luie of ads, it was ads plus a topic changer.

They talk about putting ad links into the ads themselves on the Google Adsense website. It is a beta and only effects a small percentage of sites. If I can find it again all put it up so all can see.
