I just got this email from godaddy who is telling me that I am collecting uid/password, which is totally untrue. In addition, I want to remove my domain if I do not reply their email within 24 hours! Crazy!!

    Dear Sir/Madam,

It has been brought to our attention that your domain name has been implicated in a phishing scheme. This action is a violation of Go Daddy's Universal Terms of Service and Domain Registration Agreement.

A phishing attack is an attempt to steal Internet users personal identity data and/or financial or ecommerce account information. The term "phishing" arises from the use of increasingly sophisticated lures to "fish" for users' financial information and passwords. Phishing schemes use 'spoofed' e-mail messages to lead consumers to counterfeit websites designed to trick recipients into divulging financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames, passwords and social security numbers.

In short, your website is being used to commit crimes against innocent people.

In your particular case, your site is actively being used to obtain login information from SURFINSHADE.COM customers; a screenshot of the offending content has been attached. The offending content can be found at the URL provided in this screenshot.

The content located on your site must be removed immediately.

It is possible that a third party was able to gain access to your website, without your knowledge, in order to upload these files and initiate this abusive action. This does not change that fact that it is your responsibility to ensure that your website is secure from this type of exploitation. Because of this possibility we are giving you this opportunity to stop this abuse.

    *************IMPORTANT*********************
    ACTION FROM YOU IS REQUIRED!
Due to the possibility of credit card fraud, you will need to perform the following actions as soon as possible:
    1. Remove the offending content located at the URL exhibited in the attached screenshot.
    2. Reply to with a statement that you have removed this content.

If you do not respond to this warning within 24 hours we will be left with no choice but to suspend the SURFINSHADE.COM domain name. If you respond to this message, but neglect to remove the offending content, your domain name may be suspended.
    **************************************************

It's possible someone sent phishing emails using that specific domain. Do you do web hosting? Is the domain used as the hostname of a server? Do you have any exploited scripts in your hosting account?

The domain is being used for the proxy service. That's it.

All I hear is bad news on proxys now, that's why so many people either selling up or make one for two months and sell it for 8-10 months revenue.

If you don't want Go Daddy to shut down that domain name and possibly levy
you a heavy fine, then you'd better stop posting here and do what they ask
    ASAP. It's your choice.

In their email, they said "In short, your website is being used to commit crimes against innocent people." How do they know if I am not the innocent one. If I did not do anything bad, why follow their instructions?

I emailed them back and told them that it is a proxy site and it is NOT hosting in godday. Then, they sent me the following reply without admitting any mistakes. Well, i guess they are big, and i am small. That is how the world works!

    Dear Sir,

Thank you for contacting the GoDaddy.com Spam and Abuse Department.

We appreciate your quick response in this matter and we do consider this matter closed.

    Sincerely,

So what's fradulent on that site besides the advertisment? I see nothing wrong except for Godaddy being dumb and over reacting about a domain. EDIT: My McAfee claims your site is a potential phishing Web site... kinda stupid.

Um...isn't a proxy a site that people use to circumvent being traced, or to bypass some sort of filters? Like people who do Phishing scams, and to by pass school filters and workplace limitations?

From your website (the very first line):
Anonymous proxy servers hide your IP address....

So being that this is the purpose of proxies, why are you upset about it?
It is no secret what they are used for, are you seriously going to sit there and claim innocence and no responsibility for having a proxie that someone probably used for some bullsh*t?

    Come on.

All's well that ends well, then. At least, one can hope it is.

Here's a lesson you might want to learn now: when you sign up for any online
service (domain names, webhosting, whatever), more often than not you'll be
required to check a box beside something like "I've read the contract and do
agree to all its terms." That's practically the online equivalent of signing your
own name on a paper contract and agreeing to all the terms listed, whether
    you've read it or not
    .

The moment you do that, you've entered into a contract with that provider. A
contract (in this case a registration agreement) not only tries to protect the
provider from liability, but it essentially spells out what both you and they
    can and can't do
    .

Read your registration agreement with Go Daddy and you'll find a portion that
spells out what instances they'll shut down your domain name with them. Be
aware of them, and be ready for things like this.

Next time, you might not be so lucky.
