When did DMOZ crash and lose their data?

Hello, I submitted a few sites in 2005/2006 which (like for many people it seems) still haven't been accepted. I'm quite happy to sit tight and wait but have read that DMOZ crashed sometime ago and lost all their data .

Could someone please confirm when the crash happened so I can tell which sites I should bother re-submitting.

    Thanks

The perfect crash was in late 2006 when most pending listing suggestions were lost. If you haven't re-suggested your website since then, please do so now.

I suggest you also read "How to Suggest a Site", particularly the important advice about not suggesting related URLs such as affiliates and mirrors.
For more information on the sorts of sites that editors do look for, see "Site Selection Criteria".

Had you thought of checking out Site Selection Criteria (mentioned by makrhod in the post immediately above yours)? I suggest that you read it all the way through.

Thanks jimnoble. Late 2006? I'll have to re-submit most of them then!

Hi makrhod, yes I'm ok with the DMOZ submission rules thanks. Why the "... particularly the important ..." comment, are you suggesting my sites are affiliates/mirrors?

I haven't looked at your sites, so I have no idea how closely they are related, but lonnggg experience shows that many webmasters completely overlook that instruction, along with much of the other important information on that page.

I simply feel it is worthwhile reminding people of those requirements, to try and reduce the number of unlistable sites which are suggested, and which waste everyone's time.
