I was wondreing when Articlebase became no follow? Has it been that way for a while? Has it always been that way, or is it a recent thing?

    Thanks

No idea I always thought it was dofollow. I just checked with two different tools and both are showing that it has changed to nofollow. Ezinearticles is better in my opinion plus I just started an article directory that is in BETA and we will be having tools for marketers such as keyword research built in during the coming months you can find it in my sig (SumContent).

But yeah I do not understand the point of an article directory if you do not get any SEO value from it because usually the traffic isn't all that great.

yeah i know g gives ezine lots of love, but i dropped a few places recentlyfor some keywords and couldnt figure out why, it seems to make sense if article base's links were mad no follow recently.

There is still some benefit to having your articles in a nofollow article directory. Website and blog owners could still find your article there and republish it on their own site with dofollow links.

I kinda doubt that article base going nofollow would cause you to lose some rankings. That is unless you have a lot of unique articles there.

I have noticed that article base shows up for some keyword searches now. So perhaps their change in strategy will pay off for them.

Well, if I had published anything with them and they decided to slap nofollow on it a few months later, I'd be telling them to take it down so I could put it somewhere else..

I usually publish to Ezine but I need some more places to put re-writes. Anyone know any good ones that don't mess up the links?

Makes you wonder how many other article directories will be going nofollow in the future. If that were to happen then I would bet that quite a few people would stop submitting to them. Just makes more room for the people who use article marketing for traffic purposes. The traffic from your articles can convert, it just depends on the niche you are in.

I did have around 700 uniqe articles on there and I know that a couple of my competitors had a lot of unique articles on there as well and they also dropped. I think it's kinda harsh to put nofollows on an article that passes their quality guide lines. You write the content, they get the traffic. I think bum marketing or writing articles just for their traffic is way too time consuming for what you get (in my niche anyway).

Here is a link to some other article directories that I use. The PR is out of date, but there are some good ones to be found on there.

it was nofollow right from start, its just that they were not very keen to tell this to others. Also as said earlier, stick to ezine articles. I have NEVER seen any kind of decent traffic from any article site (including goarticles) other then ezine.
