When Content is said as Unique?

I have written " home page" article for ABC.com . I uploaded it at my site XYZ.com for copysacpe checking and removed it within 5 minutes after checking.

Within this time that page got indexed. If I Google it for any one sentence from the said sample article , I could see it in google. However if I click it , I get only blank page as I have removed that content.

Now , if I want to use it for my site ABC.com. , will this sample page is treated as UNIQUE in Google or not? One of my seo friend says that now this is not at all a unique content as it is appearing in google SERPs for XYZ.com). I seek a guidance in this from experts here.

There's a difference between 'passing copyscape' and convincing a search engine that a piece of text is unique. 'Passing copyscape' is a newbie thing, actually, you should be more concerned with how to pass google these days.

If all you need to do is 'pass copyscape' (presumably so plagiarism remains undetected) here you go:-

    pass copyscape

The listing in Google should eventually disappear if the page is no longer on your site. How long that will take? Only Google can answer that one. I think there's a way to request a page be delisted but I generally don't think drawing attention to your site with Google is a good idea - yes, they have me that paranoid. lol

On another note, if you wrote the article yourself, why do you feel the need to check it on Copyscape? You know whether or not the piece is scraped, plariarized or otherwise non-unique. If you need proof for a client, this is the exact reason why it's a bad idea to require an article to "pass Copyscape". Build a reputation as a quality writer and you won't have to deal with clients who still believe in the fallacy of Copyscape as a test for uniqueness.

BTW, fun page you've got there CB.

As YMC noted, you don't need to pass copyscape if you did write the article yourself in the first place. May be you are hiding some truth?

As for Google, simply put a robots.txt file, and prevent it from indexing that particular part of your website where you do the testing.

I'm not sure now how Google will react, but I don't think it'll matter a lot since the content wasn't put for a long period of time.

    ContentBoss.

@omarabid, robots.txt doesn't stop Google snooping. In fact, it gives them explicit directions to things they otherwise probably wouldn't find. I know this to be true because in the past I have explicitly disallowed stuff that isn't linked in ANY way to the outside world 'just in case' and guess what? I found them in Google. If you examine your logs, you will see the bot snooping in your 'forbidden' stuff. They may be a bit more careful nowadays in publishing it in teh serps, but you can bet every last cent you own that Google USE THE INFO they acquire this way.

I had one site that was password protected and somehow it got indexed. My webhost was as perplexed as I was. So, it would seem very little escapes the G-bot.

    So true!
Most people rely on copyscape.com to check uniqueness. Just write yourself or hire someone that does write good and you are ok!

After a few index updates by Google you should be on the safe side. However it is impossible to say when that will happen...
