When choosing web hosting account...?

    Hello,

Our company is changing the services and implementing a Cloud computing hosting model. However I think that most site owners still do not understand how the a cloud based service looks like.

One of the things to do is to decide whether to change the billing and to go for per usage billing or to keep the standard fixed monthly fee especially for the Shared Hosting customers. One of my questions is that do you think that per usage (pay as you go) billing works for you.

Let's say you pay $8/month for a hosting account that offers a certain amount of resources. Would you pay more to use more processor time, space aand bandwidth or you'd prefer to go with "unlimited" hosting (even if you know that the web host limits the service) only because you will not be charged for the resource usage.

Per usage billing? The only host I've seen that had per usage style billing and is nearlyfreespeech. But I don't think that's what you're referring to.

As for unlimited hosting, I never go with it. Any company that says space and bandwidth is "unlimited" isn't being truthful, as there are always limits.

A VPS or dedicated is as close to "unlimited" as I think anyone can get. Any hosting company that says otherwise is blowing smoke.
