When buying "unique" templates, how do you verify if it's really unique?

I was wondering if anyone here has come up with a method to check for copies of a template on the net?

I have purchased so called "unique" templates in the past, only to find out weeks later it wasn't truly unique.

You can get indications by the pictures and icons used sometimes. Buying off a 'reputable' member usually helps.

Don't buy from anywhere that hasn't been around a long time.
Get a written, notarized guarentee stating you're entitled for a refund of the purchase price minus the "non unique" price if evidence that the template was not unique at the time you purhased it becomes available.

This should protect you from paying a fradulent premium, while still protecting them from giving out free templates.

Hmm, well, buy from reputable sites or you might wanna try templatemonster.com ..

however, their unique templates might have been sold before you buy it. u have the choice of checking how many others have bought it before..
