when buying or selling, how to quote a price for a keywords

    when buying or selling ranking services, how to quote a price for a keywords.
    Does it depend on how difficult to achieve then quote a price ?
    If yes, how to judge the difficulty of a keywords ?

    I would reference the keywords and see how many hits show up in major search engines. The more the better.

    For difficulty, base it on the depth of each subject.


    Example:
    the keyword "Toast" is easy, but "toasting" can be somewhat perplex.

    niche of the site
    structure of the site
    time table : (how long your request and possibility to rank)
    and the process it take..

    Personally I would just charge for your time. Give the customer a detailed list of exactly what you will be doing, how much time it will take, and your hourly rate. I would avoid guarantees.

    If you insist, then use a keyword difficulty tool like the following from Randfish:
