Hello everyone I would like to hear your views on the qualities that a directory must have to be considered SEO friendly, and what are the defects that may exclude it from this category. Thanks in advance
According to me, first is url. Url has to be seo friendly like it has to have sitename.com/category/subcategory/...
And Second is must be do-follow. Because for good SEO you need do-follow links and only do follow directories can be under category of Seo friendly directory.
It should allow reassonable contextual linking. I've been banned for 'link-dropping' when I thought I was following the rules....
In my opinion, SEO friendly including: - SEO Friendly Web Designing --> more here - SEO Friendly Content --> more here
SEO friendly directory criteria for me: 1. Do follow links 2. Allow me to enter link text 3. Well edited categories (no spammy links, all sites related) 4. Approve sites within 14 days
a directory must be seo friendly if it has the following things like high pr static url do follow links approve site in a minimum time
I thing, directory is friendly when your are submitting in correct category, dofollow and many different ways.
Thanks everyone... I'll read carefully the blog posts suggested by john c. and i'll be back with a checklist
A link to your site will count only if it’s possible for the search engines to scan your back-link. When you do submit links of your website to a free general directory, you’ll need to verify if the link you get from the directory would be counted by the search engines. It means that directory is seo friendly
In simple words if a crawler can reach a site through a link then this can be called as SEO friendly, and the link should be free from "NoFollow" attribute for the case of Google bot.
So sad, so sad to see how many people who have not a clue and are so quick to shout that fact to the world. And even worse it appears a large portion of the clueless are directory owners and/or self proclaimed search engine optimization 'experts' (dunces would fit better). Out of all the replies only triderma and webdev007 were even close to the reality.
