    Dear all,

I just want to know from your end of what will be your points of view before you go for using a sponsored listing in a directory. And whats are the facts that can encourage webmasters towards feature listings?

    Thanks

More traffic. Less links in category. Higher category.

I don't agree with that since directories give very little traffic... the other two are quite true however...

Which would you rather have? A featured link in aviva or a featured link in a new free directory?

Traffic obviously pays a big part. Even if I only get 30 hits a month from Aviva, it'll be worth it 2 years down the line.

If im submitting a featured its cause your directory gets good traffic
(chances are its a niche directory) &/or that category is jam packed
and i dont want my link on page 3 or lower.

    thx

You seem to miss the point mikey... What good is 30 hits a month from any directory compared to traffic from serps? Unless of course you are assuming people are actually using directories to search for sites rather that google, yahoo, or msn... Its news to me if that is what you are saying.

This is probably the reason I never submit featured links any more pctec :)

It was a case of "If i was forced to...".

If I was to ever submit featured links it would be more for the other benefits like more deep links, higher category tree placement, faster review etc.

You're right. My categories are jammed and I was also thinking to making something extra for it. Actually I'm thinking to place all the featured listing on first page and second pages rather then go to more deep.

I will change my free directory to paid only if the home page pr reaches pr5 and has some pr for the main categories.

Sorry but that is exactly why you shouldn't be in this industry. The PR of your web site shouldn't have any effect on the price you charge for submission.

As for my point of view.... I have never purchased featured listings as I never saw any significant difference over purchasing a regular listing. The traffic and the fact that you will be placed at the top of the first page were never selling points that worked with me.

That's lame. Google would strip your PR straight away. I wish boys like you would stop doing stuff like this. It messes it up for everyone.

For me, it is either because I think I might get some traffic from the directory or if the featured listing offers deep links.

High pr directories with good content and proper meta tags and categories will give a boost to your website if its submit as featured link .
