When launching a new website, what is the first 5 things you do to build traffic? I do: 1. Submit to 3-4 Social Bookmarking sites (Digg, Delicious, Reddit) 2. Put on Twitter and Facebook. 3. Write a unique article to Ezine and GoArticles. Build a Squidoo lens. 4. Make 5-10 relevant blog comments 5. Issue a press release to prweb I don't know if this is the best or most effective for having limited time?
I suggest you to do classified submissions, Document sharing, blog writing and submission on good PR blog directories, do SMM on Facebook, myspace, linkedin, twitter, maintain proper channels of your website and do some link building also.
I admire the way you setup your thread. You're not asking for the magic solution because I hate to break it to you... there is none. Rather, you know that manual link building is the way to go. It's true that submitting unique articles to directories is a very solid way to build links. However, there are smarter, more progressive ways to go about it. I'm talking about writing a unique article, spinning that article to 100% uniqueness and creating hundreds of versions of it. Then, take that article and distribute it to hundreds of directories. Now you have HUNDREDS of backlinks from one unique article that took you a tad bit longer to write because you had to optimize it for spins. Ultimately, you get more from your time input.
I appreciate the compliment. And thank you for the article spin idea. I will definitely incorporate that into my backlinking.

I recommend Facebook, as it is the biggest SNS website and can generate a lot of traffic to your site if you have got a lot of friends and great content on your Facebook account.
