Again, PR is not the most important for web directories.
but one of my directories got PR zero from three,
i believe one day the PR would recovery from Google,
but right now two years gone,
should i move to a new domain for the directory?
umm... i am planing and thinking a new name.
how about your these gray directories? what's your plans?

I leave the directories as they are, on the original domains, even the directories with good pr and no kind of penalisation struggle.

So no drastic plans for me, they are directories, they serve a purpose, plus i dont like making a decision on them with very little to go on, so not worth trying to figure out a best plan for mine really.

well if PR was not an important factor to you it wouldn't even be a question whether you would move your whole site just because PR isn't showing for your site..

Page rank has nothing to do with the quality or benefits of a directory. Page rank has nothing to do with the quality or benefits of a directory. And one more time all together now -> Page rank has nothing to do with the quality or benefits of a directory.

I could make the arguement that just because the toolbar is grey does not mean the page rank is not there. I have examples.

What do you think is a bigger endorsement by a search engine? A number on a toolbar or traffic that search engines send to the directory on a daily basis.

I know of page rank 6 directories which received less than 100 visits per day and grey toolbar directories that get around 1500 visits per day. Which do you think is getting the better endorsement by search engines? Which directory do you think is more beneficial to be in?

Credibility is measured where the rubber hits the road and that is with TRAFFIC. Honest - Real Traffic. Not worthless traffic that only comes looking for a handout either. There is a difference in the quality of traffic as you know. Too bad that most of the third party tools to measure traffic - like Alexa stink!

Personally I would rather have a listing from a credible directory which is going to actually help me in the serps department, lend credibility to my site and help me build traffic than a listing which all it does is make a useless toolbar more colorful. It is effectiveness vs esthetics. Give me effective any day. If at the end of the day it looks pretty too, well woohoo... :)

So to answer the question. Why move the directory to a new domain? You have no control over what is shown in the Google toolbar. Google may just gray it out again and you go into an endless cycle of rebuilding your directory on new domains.

I would suggest rather than moving the directory to a new domain work to improve the quality, build traffic and find the issue making the toolbar grey. Google is not perfect and maybe it is simply a mistake on their part, maybe you have a domain improperly redirected that is causing the issue.

i agree with you all, why you need to have pagerank, i think quality not for pagerank but it's all about your directory.

PR will come when your site gets better in the future. The thing you need to focus on would be improving your services and getting your directory more advertised. :)

@swedal, who know why google gray my site's PR?!
I have tried to edit all the listings and submitted the reconsideration via google webmaster tool before,
Finally it's not work. PR is not the most important for a directory, but I care about the serp really.

@hyper, I don't plan to reveal the directory here, it's not the point. Anyway happy to pm you the URL if you can help me or offer some suggestions.

im going to keep the status quo on mine..just promote as usual and not worry about grey bars,no bars pr and the such.Traffic is #1 in my book as well..if someone does not want to pay the $1 to be listed in my directory, with all the mods and addons i have, then so be it
