I already have some, but I would like to hear some opinions before spending more money.

I personally think .mobi names will only be popular if they're are widely picked up as a standard for some service like mobiles.

Same as .info and .us, no standard, anyone can use them. .edu and .gov are really the only ones that are only allowed in certain arenas.

Long live the .com, even if they are all taken :)

Nice, the .net's, forgot about those.

They're kinda the long lost brother of the .com's. I often find that the .net's of the same .com's are more techy on the same subject, no?

Again though, I agree, .mobi is just another way for the registrars to make some money, .com's are running out and domainers are making way more money than registrars can make on the same names so they come up with something stupid like .mobi and charge $30 to reg it (I guess $15 at GD but some charge in the upper $20's. How goofy is that?

Why the rediculous fee for those reg's anyway? I mean, we are sitting here discussing how they're going the way of the .info before they've even been around a half a year, or a quarter. I smell a ploy. I think the next poll should be "How long will it take the .mobi to get to $3 reg fee?"

I don't really see much of a future for .mobi, as a TLD it's not well known enough and I don't expect that to change at any point. Apart from anything else, there are already too many TLDs for people to remember, I don't have a problem because I'm a technically minded person but your average Joe on the street isn't going to care that .com means commercial, .mobi means sites optimised for mobile devices and then there's also .aero, .pro, .travel, a proposed .xxx which keeps rearing its ugly head etc.
