Well, i think adding blog serves lot of purposes if added into directory site. - You can make announcements about anything new. - You can give 'sense' to the community. - You can blog about anything about directory niche (like alive/d is doing) BUT 1) What if blog is added to directory website for the purpose of publishing 'borrowed' contents from different sources especially wikipedia. 2) Forums are added which don't revolve around 'community' but just for the purpose of gaining saturation of indexed pages in Search Engines. 3) Or any other way which just means to increase saturation in Search Engines and pages are irrelevant to directory itself. What do you think about long term outcomes of this strategy? Do you think it clutters the directory badly? Would love to hear your point of view about this particular issue.
I think a blog will help add value, it would of course be better if you include some unique content in though. Same with a forum, it would be nice if the forums were very busy with lots of posting but it is also good for tech support for the directory and you can slowly build up a community. I think both would work best for niche directories, you can see my latest Music Directory Portal to get an idea of what I have in mind (will be adding a forum soon).
Hello... Feed your brain with knowledge MONG... http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2006/12/deftly-dealing-with-duplicate-content.html The best way to get articles is "buy them" or upgrade to 3.2 phpld and that will help add content.. thx malcolm
As is always the case any additional feature is a valued added benefit especially in the case of a blog, if you can keep creating as much original unique content as possible
I checked the link but how it makes 'your' opinion about the issue i have presented in first post? Certainly i don't plan to add duplicate content, even i don't have a directory. But its the strategy some directory owners have employed and what's your view about it?
