why do you blog, whats your motive, what are you hoping to achieve?

I find my motive has changed as time has passed. My blog started as a place to post my daily doodle, then as a log of the short film I was making now it's kind of a diary of what I'm working on.

I think a lot of is that I love stats and tinkering, trying to find a way to get more traffic. I am rubbish at it but that just makes it more interesting to me.

Blogging is a long term business, and you need to keep struggle every time. One day you will feel very happy when traffic is coming to your blog and you are making sales.

I just love creating content. I feel that the more content I create, the more relevant I am to the web. Sounds strange but it's what keeps me going. I also like improving my reach, it's a great feeling. Blogging truly is a long term endeavor. In order to be successful you have to truly love it.

Well my blogging serves multiple purposes. I do look it as a long term business and a hobby. No need to say when someone gets benefited by content written by you and gives a small "thanks”. You feel top of the world.

Validation from others. I don't know if that's even the right word, though. I'd be just as happy if they deplore my posts, so long as they're aware of it and read it. I like to feel known. I like the idea of people responding to something I've created, positively or negatively. I want to affect others. I want to be heard and judged.

Money. I blog about what I like regardless of whether it is popular, or a strong keyword. I blog what's on my mind and have different outlets for my different interests.
But it all comes down to money. This is my job.

My motives did change over time. Initially i started blogging to have an online knowledge base that i could refer to from anywhere for my personal needs. But later, others started using it and it improved over time. Later i tried monetizing it and it worked great, now its a combination of learning and earning!

    cheers
