Right now I get most of my traffic from stumbleupon and twitter. My site is only about 3 days old, and it seems like we are getting from 70-140 uniques a day. I know that I can get more traffic from twitter, but I would also like to look for more sources of traffic. So the question is, where does the majority of your traffic come from? Could you also include some tips on how to get traffic from that source (if possible) Thanks and hope this is in the right topic -Dillmando
The thing about twitter is, I get my followers, by following them. Usually if someone is going to look at my site, they do it right when they follow me, so it seems like if I'm not following people I wont get traffic from Twitter. Really, what I am saying is, I dont get a constant stream of traffic, it all depends on how many people I follow. Red, how do you get hits from DP? From your signature link?
if you already have your twitter account setup, this should point you in the right direction: http://www.ploked.com/twitter/beyond-the-basics-of-your-twitter-profile.html
I think I need to work on my traffic from google, I get pretty much none. I have a wordpress blog so that might have something to do with the weak meta tags, or whatever is stopping me from getting traffic.
I just pulled my stats from analytics for one of my sites. In April 2006, Google sent me 4 clicks! In March 2009, Google sent me 2,759 clicks, a 690% increase! I've had a total of 47,995 non-paid visitors from google during that time. Out of that traffic I have an 18.43% bounce rate. If I was paying $1.00 per click for that traffic.... I would be broke.
thats a lot of traffic from google. Can you give us some tips for increasing our traffic from google?
The site that I gave the stats for has a few inbound links, but not much - only a few. Basically I just optimized the site back in 2006, got a few inbound links from my other sites on the keywords I wanted and within a few months I was ranked near the top of all major search engines. The site never changes, no new content is ever added... but I continue to get traffic and rank high for my keywords. Really just luck in this case I guess. I started another site last year, I get about 50% of the traffic from Google on the new site... BUT I rank for a keyword I have no interest in, so all the traffic Google sends me is of no value to me. People visit the page, and leave right away. I think I have like 99% bounce rate on the new site from Google :-(
My major source is from google search engine (more than 80%). Input more content with density keyword and link building will helps
This is the third day my site has been open. Yesterday I got 120 uniques, mostly from twitter and stumble. Today I had 45 uniques at 5 pm then posted two articles on my site, submitted them to stumble, checked my analytics at 10pm and I got 500 uniques just from stumble!
most of my traffic comes from direct advertising like craigslist and e-zines and from blog comenting and forum posts also I get some trafic from traffic exchanges
It all depends on your site's content. Stumble and Twiter are good for viral content but is really bad for sites like niche stores. Right now you are on the right road. Start with stumble because your site is new but you should begin to shift your efforts to developing backlinks and doing some SEO work so that you site will continue to draw in traffic even after your viral content is gone.
Google is and I guess, always will be the main source of traffic for me. Nothing beats ranking well for high-traffic keywords in search engines...
