I know this topic has been done over and over, but I really haven't seen a really complete up-to-date thread about this. Basically, I'm saying I'm kind of stuck in my link building, so I'm hoping to get some ideas. I try to keep my blog up with good content, but its finding the right websites and contacting them that's got me a little bit in a rut.

For those that wish to divulge, can you give an outline of the steps you take in starting and implementing a link building plan for your site or a clients website?

I think this one is another of those big "it depends" as in life. Depends on your site - its nature, your objectives, your budget - how focussed your niche is, etc.

Really - you have to think of Link Building as one component of your whole marketing strategy. Some people look at it totally in SEO or search engine terms. I think that is a mistake. If that were the only consideration - why would any of us post comments in blogs we know to be no follow?

    Why have a forum signature?

Even though certain links are not search engine friendly - and the much sought after 1-way link from a very high traffic, high PR site is very hard to come by -- you should still be looking at link building comprehensively.

Good links - on good high or medium traffic sites - well placed - and with a similar demographic to yours - can do more for the general awareness of your offering, and traffic to your site - than a year of tireless SEO work.

Unfortunately SEO sprang up - and the search engines are very important - and people forgot that COMPREHENSIVE MARKETING - with a sound integrated strategy is the right approach for any business that wants long term success. So regardless of the type of site you run - don't think of links as some final answer - think of the overall awareness and brand of your site. What makes people want to come back. So that you can turn each impression into a return visitor or lasting customer. THAT is the holy grail.

My current strategy is no sleep.

I clicked on my email SENT folder yesterday and noticed emails from 7am straight through to 7pm with the exception of the one hour I went to the gym.

I woke up two nights ago dreaming about anchor text. Not kidding.

I recently ran across a link builder call comment kahuna. I am still new to this forum so I don't think I am allowed to post links. but I you research I am sure you can find it. It is a free software that allows you to post comment to the top blogs in you niche.

    Search engines.

Search for topics similar to the board you have created. Then find the biggest existing one and get to work. Advertise, ask for advise, get to know other admins, and keep active.

dofollow social media will do absolute wonders, especially if you are targeting long-tailed keywords. it's actually hilarious how easy it is to rank for some long-tail keywords in like two weeks I can get them on top page on Google if they are like "dentist city province".. sometimes just one digg submission with the right anchor text can do the trick... so you got to do a lot of different strategies there's no magical answer here im afraid

I don't think he was talking about link "exchanges" but just link building. Honestly, I have to agree with Kceleb because it does all depend on a bunch of things.

Contact me if you need help... I would write the rest here but I'm running out real quick.
