DFischer ... Wow, that's a nice look you got there for your site! Would you mind sharing what software you used for that site?

    Thanks!

Richie_Ni - thanks for your contribution. I'm actually looking to create blogs with that "New Look" ala digg.com, etc. Hence my need for Web 2.0 themes.
Personally, most of the ones available at http://themes.wordpress.net/ look pretty dated, imo.

To be honest, I don't have a formal definition. The look and feel of digg.com is a good example. Basically, minimalist, without being too minimalist (huh?), lots of rounded boxes and corners, drop shadows, gradients and whitespace, and ... I don't have the term for it - the colors used aren't pastel, neither are they primary colors.

I've used web2 wannabe for my new blog:
    http://holidaygifts.dpnotes.com/

    DFischer's also qualifies, I guess:
    http://helpmebuyacar.org/

    Last.fm's is good:
    http://www.last.fm/

Some resources that I've just found on "Web 2.0" design:
    http://www.profitpapers.com/dev/web-20-design-tutorials.php
    ... I like this tutorial: http://www.photoshoplab.com/web20-design-kit.html

Here's the definition of Web 2.0
[SIZE=-1]Web 2.0 is a term often applied to a perceived ongoing transition of the World Wide Web from a collection of websites to a full-fledged computing platform serving web applications to end users. Ultimately Web 2.0 services are expected to replace desktop computing applications for many purposes.

OK - I think I've changed my mind - the K2 theme seems to be a better Web 2.0 theme for me - looks quite close to digg too, in terms of colors. I'm currently playing around with it along with Wordpress MU - example:

    Thanks for the suggestions, Jestep.

I bought the (not cheap!) Semiologic package, but haven't the time to fully exploit its full capabilities. The only unfortunate thing about it is the supplied skins aren't Web 2.0 enough for my taste.

Blix looks Web 2.0 enough though.

    Thanks for sharing.

My opinion of web2.0 is able to let others:
    comment
    print your page
    save your page as pdf
    send to a friend
    tag
    bookmark
    digg
    subscribe rss
search thru your site with a search box

As long as it's easy for your visitors to interact with you. Is my blog on my sig considered web2.0? Or do I need more plugins?

I like all of my own themes, as I've created them as a result of not finding ones out there I like. :)

Krush - filmzone almost looks the Web 2.0 part, except for the left and right sidebars, which make use of "old style" bullets, underlines, fonts and indentations.

SkiRat - truly awesome themes! But I like your Vertigo 1.0 the best - have you made this theme available somewhere? And there're some pretty cool color tools you've linked up to at your personal blog - the color picker is VERY useful! ... I'm using it now.

TUP - I totally agree with you about the interaction part - however, my focus is on the design elements, rather than the interaction aspect of a blog. I'm looking for themes that give my blogs that "fresh Web 2.0 look" - the lines, the gradients, the bullets, the boxes, the color scheme, etc. To me, your blog does not look the part.

Anyway, thanks a lot, everybody, for your contribution!

I liked "almost spring" but then I decided to have my own templates and I keep changing it as per my mood and liking.

Pacey - great resources - thanks! They probably won't make it to the top of my own personal list, but I think I see a use for those formats on some of my blogs - thanks again!

Aji - I know what you mean - I keep switching from one thing to another too. The problem is that I totally suck at design, otherwise I would have created my own themes.

Hey, no I have not officially released the Vertigo theme, as I usually do that once I reboot. On an occasion or two, I have allowed people to use my current themes, though. And yes, the color schemes site is a very helpful tool!!!
