    Hi all,

I'm looking for recommendations for a free or very inexpensive manager for a searchable FAQ/Knowledgebase I'd like to put on my site. PHP please

More then just an FAQ, I need to have categories and sub categories, related links and enough room for full sized articles within the entries. The ultimate goal is a categorized and searchable database of educational information for my readers.

There are 81 of these programs listed on Hot Scripts, does anyone have a favorite?

I'm confident phpMyFAQ is able to hadle what you want. It is search engine friendly with friendly URL's, categories, sub-categories, search etc... One interesting feature in phpMyFAQ is, that people can ask questions and other people can answer! (you of course decide them going live). phpMyFAQ is a free script.

You mentioned about articles... here's one variation using phpMyFAQ to publish articles:
    http://delaware-corporation-faq.com/

    phpMyFAQ main site:
    http://www.phpmyfaq.de/
(a new version seems to be out today)

But if you want a really flexible and feature rich site and are willing to invest yout time a bit, then you maybe want to take a look at Drupal

    Hope this helps ;)

I seriously can't recommend this program enough. Right "out of the box" it installed in about 10 seconds (after database was created and directory was CHMOD'd). The layout is 100% css based, you can just cut and paste div's around to fix the main layout the way you want, I'm pretty css dumb (layout wise), so that is a BIG plus.

It worked right away with it's built in mod-rewrite system, and URLS are 100% search engine friendly - they look like this

    http://www.tubanews.com/education/category0.html

It is jam-packed with other search engine friendly features including the ability to add keywords and descriptions to each entry and category which show up in meta tags. The internal search works great.

Now I just need to figure out how to get my site's header and footer wrapped around it without removing all it's <title> and <meta> functionality, I dont want to mess with it, it works too well. I have come across a few minor bugs but a trip to the forums on their site answered all my questions. Once I get this area populated, this WILL bump my site up in the rankings - there's just too much potential for great content and legitimate keyword-rich pages...plus it will be user-friendly, I love it.

Wow! That's an excellent script by the look of it.Going to download it myself for my new site:)I notice the seemingly effortless inclusion of Googleads too.
