If you had to pick one or two books? I have maybe 10 copywriting books I bought from Amazon. I like some of the old-school stuff. Ogilvy is pretty good, Hopkins of course, and Joe Sugarman has some good advice....wondering what other favorite resources are out there? ---------------------------------------------- Sensational, Profit Pulling Sales Copy For Your Website & Email Promotions http://www.SalesLetterKit.com
I spent most part of the day in front of my PC so no time for printed books, but I this has been my favorite resource for long time www.freelancewriting.com
"Hey Whipple Squeeze This" is a great resource. Any of Bob Bly's copywriting books are outstanding. Peter Bowerman's "Well-Fed Writer" is also one of the best.
I would probably choose Influence by Robert Cialdini and Scientific advertising by good ol' Claude Josiah
There were also excellent copywriting resources posted at www.rayedwards.com's forum, but sadly he removed that area and changed his excellent website design for a simple blog Perhaps still available looking back through archive.org
Why pay when you can learn from one of the world's best for free?! I'm talking about Gary Halbert, and you should immediately go and read all his newsletter back-issues. More valuable than most of the paid information out there by far. thegaryhalbertletter.com
Man, Bob Bly is so 1980s. Reading his books is like sitting in front of an infomercial for several hours.
I recently read The Ultimate Sales Letter by Dan Kennedy and it was excellent. If you're more interested in Web content writing, I recommend Bob Bly's Online Copywriter's Handbook. If you're interested in writing for magazines and newspapers, Marcia Yudkin's Freelance Writing for Magazines and Newspapers has a lot of information.
