I'm a Lakers fan but since I live in south Florida. Of course, I go for the home team as well. Looks like the Heat will win the championship this year and ill be at some championship party lol.
I was a die-hard fan of Phoenix Suns because I absolutely love how Steve Nash plays, but then he left to the Lakers and hasn't been doing too well. ATM my favourite team would have to be the Timberwolves. I don't think I have an objective reason for that though. Sometimes I wish I was from America so I could have a "home" team to love unconditionally.
My favorite basketball team is the Warriors. I love their pace of play and their team is so deep and team oriented, even though they have some great young stars and MVP candidate Steph Curry on their team.
Boston Celtics. When I was in college, you could get tickets to the Boston Garden (since been replaced with a much newer and bigger facility) for any Celtics game, including the playoffs, the day of the game at the box office. These were the days of Bill Russell, John Havlicek, etc., and they were winning all of the championships, but no one went to the games. That changed during the Larry Bird era. I lived in the Metrowest area outside of Boston back then as did a lot of pro athletes. My wife and I once ran into Robert Parrish in a Toys R Us. Big guy. Red Auerbach was their greatest coach, by far.
In my country Chile, we only really know 2 teams. The Lakers and the Bulls. I wouldn't say I am a Lakers fan, but I really like Kobe Bryant. For a guy to play at the level he is playing at his age right now is just an unbelievable feat. It is a testament to the persistance and undenying effort of consistent discipline to his kraft. No doubt one of the greats. It would be epic if he could win one more NBA Championship ring. With injueries he has suffered this season, his relentlesss mindset is just superb in my opinion. He may not be liked by everuone but he is the closest to MJ than anyone. Beast!!
I am one that has always been in debate with Kobe and Michael Jordan because you can clearly see Jordan's game in the way Kobe plays and I a big time Jordan fan. I personally think Jordan would still dominate in the modern era. I love the game of basketball and you can't really say enough about Kobe and his legacy. As much as I can't stand the way the Lakers are playing right now, Kobe, I think, doesn't have to do anything else to solidify his place in the game. But, I do agree that his relentless tenacity is just out of this world. Everyone says he needs to hang it up but how can you play at this level at this age and still be considered a threat on the court. Crazy! I really would like Kobe to win one more ring but it is definitely far fetched.
Dude, you mustv'e been to some epic games living in Boston. I am definitely a fan of the game and so I remember the Larry Bird era. And then came Michael Jordan......lol. I just love the sport man. Im real jealous you live around there in the heart of these epic teams and games. I am yet to make my way down to the Boston area. Can't wait to take my family there on a trip. That would be the day.
It was loooong time ago, but I saw Bill Russell duel with Wilt Chamberlain a few times. Really memorable games. This was when the Celtics and the Lakers were always in the Finals.
