That's so funny. I don't see IE as the leader. It doesn't even follow all the standards. It's the default, which makes it the most used do to lack of education in my mind.
That is very funny - not being rude here. Actually IE came about because M$ did not think the Internet had a future but in the meantime Netscape had been launched independently [by one of the builders] from Mosaic. Now Mosaic was the original and obviously had faults which were "corrected" with Netscape Navigator which took off like a rocket. Startled into admitting he was wrong Gates needed a solution fast and since Mosaic was now dead he grabbed it by licencing it from the University and bundled it with his software for free - the rest is history. So IE has builtin all the problems that were there at the beginning - bit like MSDOS and Windows I guess - leader for being first, yes by default, leader in quality, absolutely not.
Hey guys... I didn't say it was the best... just the leader, most popular, most used, the default, etc, etc, etc.
That's why this thread exists. To make you realize that there are other browsers that you may not realize, that do MUCH more. To try new things and see the world through another browsers view You may be surprised.
Oh I get it... it is kind of like using a Mac no matter what or recording on beta tape rather than VHS. You are looking for superior technology. (You know I am pulling your chain.)
You know that the Master of the Universe is on a Mac - don't you? I'd be shivering in your shoes if I were you....hehe
Firefox for sure. The main difference I can see between it and netscape is the array of extensions that are available. Opera's handling of CSS is getting weirder and weirder so that's out. Gotta develop in IE, and keep it around for checking PR though... -Greg
I find firefox works the best as I keep switching between Linux and windows between winter and summer. Firefox has been the only browser (aside from mozilla) that can work with both operating systems and its faster than mozilla. Does anyone know of any other free browsers for both linux and windows (aside from opera's trial as I can't stand ads!)?
I might be biased but I think IE is the best out there now considering all the features they have added and its much more secure. I hear firefox and safari is great but I have never tried them
Opera one of most valuable new tools of the browser is its search customization feature that allows users to add a website's search engine to Opera's list of integrated search engines. I applaud Opera's ability to selectively block content within a website.
Firefox user here. And I've converted so many of my friends ad family as well. They should hire me or something!
Firefox for the scriptability and extensions, Opera for the "nice" factor and Internet Explorer for the uh, VML exploits and crippled CSS2 engine (this is meant in jest, please don't flame me). On a serious note, I've had some good experiences running K-Meleon on my low spec laptop (200mhz with 64MB of RAM). And of course let us not forget the wonder that is lynx.
