Its not hard to influence Alexa ranking. I have a very new site that has around 1 ~ 2 visits per day and its alexa ranking progessed like this; Day 1: 22,445,198 Day 2: 10,302,042 Day 3: 7,538,405 I am confident that I will be able to get it below 1 million by the end of next week (with no increase in traffic).
I think I win from what I've read. My main site is 15,000. got 4 sites under 50,000 and 3 more under 300,000.
Most of my sites hang in the 900,000 range...but I have one that is getting close to crack the top 100,000.
Thats strue, I think 1 mill up is just yourself and one or two other person, 500 thou down prolly when you start having real visitors
I don't go by Alexa rankings anymore. It's just like basing your site's value off a site like cubestat, or Websiteoutlook. Yugo,
Yep, I don't place much value in it, other than just for fun. For instance, one of my domains says that 0% of my traffic over the last 7 days came from search engines. On average, 40 to 50 percent of my traffic in a given month comes from them. Not real sure how it came up with 0.
um .. not really, when you consider the fact that if you downloaded the Alexa toobar (which, incidently, is a large piece of spyware), and sat there and refreshed your site in your browser all day long, your numbers would greatly improve. I'm not saying that this is how most get their higher Alexa ranking. I'm just saying that people do this sort of thing with the Alexa toolbar in order to advance their numbers.
i started 3 months back wid my website.. and i end it up at 2,45,874 and still improving.. Alexa is nothing but an idiot window. Guess i got a hole in Alexa..
Just checked and my Mirror Imaging site which is only 3 weeks old is 614,466 i have to admit i am rather please as it does give a 'rough indication' how your sites are doing.
