What's your adsense strategy? Primarily 1 or 2 bigsites or dozens of small sites?

I tried to concentrate my effort on 1 site but it never pays off so I'm planning to go with the latter option: building lots of small sites and see what happens?

    What are your strategies?

    I only have one site.

You can either make one good site and make big money or make loads of sites and make small money.

    It adds up the same.

it's easier to update one/two big sites than 100 smaller ones. You should develop one main site and, in time, try to develop some more!

Today my strategy is to focus on one site, updating that one daily and working on building links to it, and it accounts for about half of my Adsense income. The rest comes from lots of little sites and blogs that I started over the last few years, sites that I occasionally work on and occasionally hunt for links for, and which bring in a few dollars a day each.

I think if I were starting anew today, I'd follow the same strategy. Build several sites (they can be in the same larger niche, kind of a network if you will) and see which ones have good profit potential.

You can't always tell which ones will be winners, even with keyword and average $ per-click analyzing. Instead, start several, and see which ones look to be contenders, and then focus on one or two of the promising ones.

As has been mentioned, there's no point sinking all your time and energy into a site that just won't pan out.

unless you can create that one big site that no one has done before then go with a few smaller, low maintenance sites.

If you are going to single-handedly develop and market, it makes more sense to stick to one major site.

Small sites will mean you will have to develop each site individually and also SEO them.

If you want to go for the small-sites model, you should outsource some work to others or hire a few guys for full time work.

I went for multiple small sites outsourcing the work designing them and putting them up in directories while developing a few big ones myself. I'm making money on the small ones but as I've had personal issues (my wife) I have never completed the big one so I would agree with the multiple small sites and gradually do the large one theory.

Make sure the small ones don't need too much work though or you won't have time for the biggie.

Im making money but not huge amounts yet just about to break even after 2 months with the little ones but the link building I paid for has only just finished it was a guy here. Did 5000 links on 50 sites for me.

A mate did the site design for free :) I do plan to update them though in time as they are all the same nothing new its the directory listings that are getting me the hits and cross linking.

I am going with forums (in German) and I build something like a Forum Network.

My first one was a medical forum called (translated) patient questions dot net.
This one is over the edge now and is running smoothly on its own. 90% of my adsense earnings are coming from this forum. Medicine is a high paying niche.

My second forum was a parents forum called (translated) parents questions dot net.
It is not yet over the edge but I think about 3-4 month and it will. I reduced ads here to not drive new visitors away so it does not pay much in adsense yet.

After that I started a blog because I am not sure if a forum would kick off easily (but most likely I will turn this into a forum next year). The blog is called (translated) asthma questions dot net. The main purpose is to age the domain with good quality content but adsense wise it's a few cents a day at most.

My third and newest forum is a forum about weight loss called (translated) weight loss questions dot net (who would have guessed?)
No adsense at all until it has build a solid member base. I think I will start monetizing the forum in about 3-4 month.

And there is another Forum but that is only for aging the domain and will most likely not be promoted until the end of the year.
It is about diabetes and its called (come on, in chorus) diabetes questions dot net

And believe me, I have a few more for different topics up my sleeve :D

In 1 year they will pay me a second income, I am sure of that :p

I first tried to work only on one site, but it did not worked. After that, I made 5+ sites and things start to get better. The most important thing is to get traffic, as traffic = $$$

Since im in the proxy business i make smaller sites, and a couple of them have grown to be bigger sites. But most of mine will grow to become much bigger with advertising.

You will not have enough time to develop alot of quality sites... One is better, but hey, it's not MFA we are talking about. Work on your site for people, and they will come... Only after that you may think, do i have too many visitors, should i share them with other sites and make some $$? :)

smaller sites are better if you wan get started... but if you have skill and expertise to develop a bigger site you shud go for that ...as some one mentioned its easier to update one site rather updating many others....

It depends, how much work you can handle yangyang!

    note. $750 for 1 site, doesn't mean $1500 for 2 sites

I agree. But earning niches seem to be constantly eluding me. I have tried many different topics building sites financed by adsense.

Does it happen often one accidentally stumbles upon a niche that earns an easy $10 / day on the first day? I have heard about such stories many times here on DP, really condemning my luck...ugh...

Maybe working harder is my only way.
