Hey all, I'm hoping that this is the right section for this, felt the best place, but on to the issue. I own several websites and noticed 4-6 weeks ago that the main site had no backlinks from altavista and all the web, where as the others, including not so worked on sites had links from there. I bought the domain in August on here, GamerStyle.com and it's domain age is 6 years. I transferred my gaming forums from my previous gaming site with redirects. Both sites had independant front pages, but forums were redirected/located on gamerstyle. Since I bought it, the thumbnail image on Alexa and Whois hasn't updated to reflect the new look of the site. I've also since changed the layout of some of my other sites and the thumbnails have been updated accordingly. This point has always bothered me, could anyway clear this up as to why that would happen? With the page rank update in November, my other sites received a page rank but this website remained at 0. Since then my co-admin and myself have been working hard on putting new unique content on. It's been the most worked on of our sites. With the latest pagerank update, our other sites received some more pagerank, but gamerstyle still 0 both on the homepage and forums. Another forum I'm an admin on, has been up about a month, with not as much work done, but recieved a pagerank of 2. Could there be something wrong with my domain? Could it have previously been penalized by google/other search engines? This has really baffled us, and we're quite disappointed with the outcome from the work that's been put in. If anyone had any idea why this is, or how I could check, it would be greatly appreciated.
Either the domain was already banned/penalized by Google, or else something you have done has caused this. You have excessive cross linking between your own websites. This can be seen as artificial link building. It is generally a bad idea seo-wise to share the same forum for 4+ websites. If you moved the forum from a previous website, perhaps there is some duplicate content issue as well.
I don't think the cross linking would be an issue, as each gaming site is hosted on a different server so the server ips aren't the same. I've also checked over some threads for duplicate content issues which were on the forums before the move, but I believe the redirect was set up correctly, and there isn't reference to the thread(s) on gg.
