Hello, To a guy with absolutely NO experience building/owning/promoting a link directory, but is considering doing so (that would be me), it would SEEM as though a Bid For Position directory would be a more favorable prospect than a non BFP directory. However, as I'm sure you've guessed, my hours of reading forums and researching the matter seems to indicate that NON Bid For Position directories are much more common. The part that I can't seem to find (and I'm guessing is something silly that I'll be embarassed for not knowing) is....why?? I'd definately appreciate your responses
Because bid for position directories are paid only, they can't be used for free directories like the normal directories can.
Doh! I guess I just didn't notice that the BFP options didn't allow free listings. Seems to me like a directory that allowed both free and BFP listings would work just fine.....but then again, I've already told you I know absolutely nothing about this stuff yet Thanks for the help, mikey!
I think allowing free links in a bid directory almost defeats their purpose. Plus they've enough spam as it is, without allowing more spammy free submissions.
Bid for position is a good concept only for niche bid directories and not for general bid directories I would consider general bid directories as more of money making directories.
Yeah they are definatly money makers, but also they are the ones which are slapped hard by google everytime.
