What's with Text-Link-Ads?

What's with text-link-ads.com? When browsing sites to advertise on, all I see are website titles and no urls. Hovering over the "Reveal" link doesn't help much either. What's worse is that many of the webstie titles are vague (look at Electronics > Digital Photography to see what I mean). Even adding sites to the shopping cart doesn't reveal the urls.

I've contacted them about this four times already and received no response. Is there something I'm missing? Has anyone else experienced this? I'd sure like to know what the deal is before I start spending my stolen...er...hard earned money. ;)

They probably do that so you don't run to the site owner and offer to buy the links outside of text-link-ads' website.

Yea, its always like that, quite annoying, but they do it so you cant do direct to the site and cut out their 50% commission

If you're clever you can find the site yourself...that's what I do to check out where my link will be placed, etc.

if your're sneaky you can search the name of the site via google or the screenshot may provide just enough information for you to get the domain...

When did TLA start hiding the URL? It used to be a click away after you logged in. You really need to see the URL before buying, because some sites are oversold and aren't worth the money.

Exactly. That's why I always try to find the site...make sure they aren't nofollow'ing the links, etc.

Thanks to all who responded to this question. :) I now understand why TLA removed the urls.

However, I wished they hadn't done so. It can be difficult at times to locate certain sites, especially if their titles seem generic. Using the screenshot isn't the best solution as sites do change their appearance over time (TLA may not have this updated). Like you, I want to make sure that my links is being placed on the correct sites and that they all can be followed.
